Henry County Retired Educators Celebrate the Holidays
The Henry County Retired Educators were together again, face to face, breaking bread and celebrating the holidays. It had been a long time since HCREA had been able to gather as a group which made their Holiday Celebration on December 14th that much more celebratory. The festive group was entertained by HCREA member storyteller Betty English, and Elaine Childs who led the group in singing Christmas Carols. Poinsettias and other holiday items were given as door prizes to lucky attendees. Participants were fed by Henry County School’s very own Culinary Arts students from the Academy for Advanced Studies. The students and retired educators greatly enjoyed the delicious meal and time spent together, too. (Once a teacher, always a teacher!) Not only did everyone have fun, but $1400 in gift cards and toys were collected for foster children which will be distributed by the Division of Family and Children Services in our community. 450 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable food items were donated to Helping in His Name Food Bank, and members brought in over $1300 for the GREA President’s project, the March of Dimes. All in all, the day was a huge success!!!
